Álvaro Medina
Graduate Student in Biochemistry

Biography
Álvaro Medina is from Madrid, Spain. He earned his Sc.B. in Biochemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2021, where his thesis focused on developing a new multiplexing approach for fluorescence microscopy. He then moved to Berlin to pursue a master’s degree in Advanced Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin where he studied the interaction between MHC class I molecules and potential ligands for his thesis. Currently, Álvaro is investigating T-cell receptor cross-reactivity through a biophysical and computational lens. When he’s not thinking about immune recognition, he’s probably outside, playing soccer, or chatting with anyone who will listen. Proceed with caution though, he might challenge you to a chess match if he sees you are free!
